How To become a famous artist?

A very perplexing thought. I have pondered this for years and have not come to an answer.

I have a good upbringing in the art scene. My mom-who her whole life has tried to get her name known. She was told by well known artists that it's who you know not how well you paint. To this day seeing my mom thumbing through my issue of a most recent art magazine saying" this art is crap" a dog rolling around in his feces on a canvas looks better.

I took up the brush a few years ago on the recommendation of my therapist, I haven't stopped since. I have done hundreds of pieces of artwork in the last several years.
